NAIDOC Week 2008
NAIDOC celebrations are held around Australia each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year's NAIDOC celebrations take place 6-13 July. The theme for NAIDOC 2008 is Advance Australia Fair and the national focus city is Canberra. Click here to visit the official website and find out more about NAIDOC Week 2008.
This year's activities are being held amid a new sense of reconciliation following Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's National Apology to Stolen Generations. The Australian High Commission in Ottawa will celebrate NAIDOC week through screening the following films in the High Commission's reception area:
- Film of Prime Minister Rudd's National Apology
- Bangarra Dance Company
- "The Dreaming"
Members of the public are most welcome to visit us Monday-Thursday 08:30-17:00 and Friday 08:30-16:30 during the week beginning 7 July to watch these films. We are located at 50 O'Connor Street, Suite 710, Ottawa.
